The General Knowledge Club of Mahinda Rajapaksha College was officially established on October 20, 2022. However, initial activities began earlier with the 1st Selection test conducted in March 2022 under the supervision of the Former Chief Teacher-in-charge Mrs. J.P.S. Vidyani. The founding members aimed to foster curiosity, broaden horizons, and encourage interdisciplinary learning among students.

Marking a significant milestone shortly after its formation, the club proudly entered its first major inter-school competition. This was the prestigious 32nd consecutive Blue and Gold Quiz, an event organized and hosted by Royal College, Colombo, initiating the club's tradition of competitive intellectual engagement.
The club's Logo was designed by First Chief Technical Coordinator (later designated Editor-in-chief) Induwara Uthsara. The design followed a pencil sketch originally drawn by the Former General Secretary (who was then the Grade 09 Representative), Vidun Randiv Ellewela.
